2 hour delay

There is a 2 hour delay for PdC Schools this morning. Travel safely!

3K and 4K Update - 12/8/2014

Please help to spread this info to 3K and 4K families. We are unable to reach our 3K families right now with Skylert and are working to fix the issue.

This message is for 3K and 4K families.

There will be no morning 3K today with the two hour delay (this will be the case whenever there is a 2 hour delay in the morning). Afternoon 3K will run as normal.

There will be no breakfast for 4K students with the two hour delay (this will be the case whenever there is a 2 hour delay in the morning).

Crawford County Kicks Hunger

Sarah Achenbach, Crawford County’s Fairest of the Fair, is working on a service project called Crawford County Kicks Hunger. If your family would like to participate, please send $1.00 with your child on Friday, November 21. We will all be wearing orange that day. All proceeds go to the local Crawford County Food Pantries. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child's teacher or the office.

Winter Concert Date Clarification

We would like to clarify the Winter Concert date and time information for students in grades 3K through 5th grade.

The Elementary Winter Concert date is DECEMBER 11, 2014 and all events will be held at the Prairie du Chien High School. 

*3K and 4K students will perform at 4:45pm in the High School Little Theatre.

*K-2 will perform at 5:30pm in the High School Gym.

*3-5 will perform at 7:00pm in the High School Gym.

More information will follow and we hope to see you there!

Monday, November 3rd

We hope everyone had a great and safe Halloween! This is a reminder that there is no school for students on Monday, November 3rd. We'll see all students again on Tuesday, November 4th!

If you're looking for a great activity on Monday evening, come to the high school for the first Day of the Dead celebration sponsored by our Spanish department at the High School! There will be activities and fun for all ages!!

Bucketfilling pledge...

One of our 3K students has learned our daily bucketfilling pledge and even practices at home!! Check out what a nice job he does!!

Bike Winners!!!

We had two lucky bike winners from the Fire Department drawing!!  Thanks to all who participated in mapping out the smoke alarms in their homes.

A special thanks to Wal-Mart for donating the bikes, and to the Fire Department for their continued support of our students and schools!

Mrs. Wachter - May Lemke Special Service Award

Louise Wachter, Early Childhood Special Education Teacher at B.A. Kennedy was presented with the May Lemke Special Service Award at the Wisconsin Council for Exceptional Children Conference at UW Whitewater on Saturday, October 18th. 

This award recognizes a person who has provided outstanding service and who demonstrates the qualities of exceptional perseverance, love, courage and leadership to or for children and youth with special needs. The award nomination consisted of letters of support from former parents/grandparents, district superintendent and building principal. 

Louise demonstrates these qualities daily in her work with students, parents, community members and fellow colleagues. She has touched many lives and has helped many students to have a strong educational foundation. Mrs. Wachter is in her 37th year of teaching in the Prairie du Chien School District, and continues to be a fantastic educator and child advocate. This award could not go to a more deserving recipient!

Capitol Ceremony Celebrates 2014-2015 Wisconsin Title I Schools of Recognition

MADISON — State Superintendent Tony Evers offered congratulations to Bluff View Intermediate School for being among 173 schools in the state that received Wisconsin Title I School of Recognition honors for the 2014-15 school year. “These schools are examples of the success we need in all of our schools to close the achievement gap,” Evers said.

The schools were recognized during a special Oct. 13 ceremony at the State Capitol in Madison hosted by Deputy State Superintendent Mike Thompson. Pictured with Thompson, from left: Clay Koenig (Asst. Principal), Kalen Hagen (6th Grade Math), Christine Panka (School Board President), Mike Thompson, Lindsey Fisk (7th Grade Math), Erin Pederson (3rd Grade), Lisa Mink (BAK LMC). During the program, special recognition went to seven High-Achieving schools and 29 High-Progress Schools. Eight schools earned both High-Achieving and High-Progress honors. Three schools earned the award for a 10th consecutive year, while 10 schools earned the award for a fifth consecutive year.

"We are exceptionally proud of the staff, parents, and students ability to work to beat the odds. This is a direct result of the hard work, attention to detail, and desire to succeed by all three groups. My staff, as well as the BAK staff, have worked very hard over the past years to improve the curriculum for our students. Our parents and students have risen to the expectations of our staffs' loftier goals and as a result, great things are happening" said Aaron Amundson. This is the third year in a row that Bluff View has been recognized by the state for the award.

Special Visitors at B.A. Kennedy...

B.A. Kennedy had some very special visitors on Friday before the pep rally! The football team came over to read to our kindergarten and 1st grade students. It was such fun, and our students enjoyed having that time with our high school celebrities! 

A special thanks to Mr. Amundson, Mr. Banasik and Mrs. Gallagher for their help in coordinating this!!

Becoming a Love and Logic Parent

Open House...

We hope the last week of summer is treating you well. 

As a staff at B.A. Kennedy, we are looking forward to welcoming families back to school at our open house. Open house is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, August 27th from 4pm-6pm. Please stop in during that timeframe to meet your child's teacher, see the classroom, drop off school supplies and explore the building.
