Last Day of School Info...

Please see the above link for information on our last day of school at B.A. Kennedy.  This info will also be coming home with your child in paper format.  We look forward to receiving your responses!

If there are questions, please contact your child's teacher or the BAK Office.

Thank you!

Summertime is here...

Summertime is here!!!!!

This is just a reminder of our dress code at BAK.
Backless/strapless tops, halter tops, spaghetti straps, low cut (on either front or in arms) tank tops
and/or tops that reveal the midriff will not be allowed.

Suggestion: for young girls-wear a non-spaghetti strap tank top underneath the item of clothing with spaghetti straps; for young boys-wear a more fitted tank top underneath a tank top with low cut arms.

The full dress code can be found on p. 16 of the BAK Handbook (http://www.pdc.k12.wi.us/cms_files/resources/HANDBOOK%2012.13%20BAK.pdf).

Students who come to school in items that do not meet the dress code will be asked to change their clothing upon arriving to school.
If no clothing is available, parents will be contacted to bring a change of clothing.

We are confident that B.A. Kennedy families understand the importance of sending their children to school in clothing that is appropriate for their “work” environment.  We appreciate your help in guiding your children toward clothing choices that are comfortable and that best protect their modesty as they learn and play at school.

If there are questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Stuckey at (608) 326-3704 or stuckeyla@pdc.k12.wi.us.

Thank you for your help with this matter!

We're excited about PALS...

Be sure to notice Prairie du Chien's percentage in the chart at the bottom of the above link!

Wisconsin Public Schools are required to give the Phonological Awareness Universal Literacy Screener (PALS) in Kindergarten. PALS is a research-based assessment used as a screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring tool for measuring the fundamental components of literacy. Troy Couillard, Director, Office of Student Assessment with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction stated that "it helps educators identify students needing reading intervention. PALS-K scores help teachers understand how to address specific literacy needs of individual students. The PALS-K also helps educators understand which students are ready for more advanced reading instruction."

For the fall statewide test, 89% of kindergarten students screened were determined to be at the set benchmark level of phonemic awareness and letter sound knowledge which are predictors of future reading success. Kindergarteners are now taking a spring version of the test.

Schools in southwest Wisconsin did much better than the average.  For example, Prairie du Chien Public School screened 93 Kindergarten children, and only one student did not meet the benchmark. In this week of school staff appreciation, we need to be thankful to have such dedicated and caring teachers and support staff in the schools in our area.  They do a fantastic job!

National Teacher Appreciation Week...

Be sure to thank your child's teacher this week. He or she works hard every day and does a fantastic job! We are so lucky to have such great teachers in the Prairie du Chien Schools!

June 7th...

We look forward to another great turn out in celebration of a fabulous school year!
